Choose an Orb's job before its type
An Orb card can provide immediate damage, recurring block, stored burst or simply trigger an evocation. Evaluate the job the current fight needs first.
- Frost can buy setup time even when it is not the deck's win condition.
- Lightning and Glass gain value when the deck can evoke them quickly.
- Dark needs enough time or controlled slot order to become a payoff.
Balance Focus, slots and channel rate
More Focus improves each passive and evoke, while more slots delay evocation. Neither stat is automatically good without enough cards to channel Orbs.
- Take Focus when the deck already creates Orbs often enough.
- Add slots when passive value matters more than rapid cycling.
- Avoid filling the deck with Orb support that does nothing before the engine starts.
Respect the high-Ascension clock
The Steam guide emphasizes that lines comfortable at low Ascension may be too slow after A7. The deck still needs front-loaded defense, draw and a way to close fights.
- Draft an opening defense plan before relying on long passive scaling.
- Use draw and Energy to put Powers online without sacrificing the whole turn.
- Keep a fight-specific answer for multi-enemy pressure and fast elites.
